Richard Bailey finishes 6th in just 3rd Civil War start.

Richard scored his second top ten finish in just his third California Civil War start. He was the top finishing rookie as he went on to finish sixth in the main event at Placerville Speedway June 23rd.
After being the third to last qualifier, he went on to qualify 14th in the 39 car field. He went on to finish 4th in his heat race battling a loose car to make the final transfer. Starting fourth in the 30 lap main event Richard would fall back to eighth in the early going on the very slick surface. He then changed his line and fought back up to sixth in the final laps.

Richard commented after the races “I am happy with the 6th place finish, we were discussing before the race on how much more we wanted to tighten up the car. We should have gone more but we are all new at this and learning. It was fun racing with all the veterans I watched growing up and I learned a lot from them. I am defiantly looking forward to running here next weekend.”

Although Richard cannot make all the Civil War races because he has USAC Western States Sprint Car ride, he is looking forward to his next Civil War race at Silver Dollar Speedway on July 20th.
Richards racing efforts are sponsored by car owner Pete Bellotti, Bailey Brothers Racing Engines, Johnny Franklin Muffler, JB Racing Components, Aaron’s Signs, M and M Photos. Richard would also like to thank his dad Dan Bailey, Kirt Organ, Brian Grossenheider, Doug Pace, Kenny Babcock, Bob Uran and Sam Bailey. With out all of their help this wouldn’t be possible.

Richard had a busy Memorial Day weekend!!

On Saturday May 26, 2007, Richard made his first pavement start aboard one of the Ted Finkenbinder entries in the USAC Western States Sprint Car event at All-American Speedway in Roseville, CA. The car was fast off the trailer in practice turning consistent 12.8 second laps, but developed a bad push in qualifing resulting in a 13.2 time which was good for 13th quick.

The crew worked on the car and thought they had it fixed, but it still had the push in the main event. Richard rode out the 50 laps for an 11th place finish and did a great job for running a pavement car for the first time.

Richard said, "I would really like to thank Ted And Rose Finkenbinder for the oppurtunity and look forward to the next race at Altamont.I would also like to thank my crew and Bailey Brothers Racing Engines for all the horsepower."

On Sunday May 27, 2007 Richard jumped into the Pete Bellotti owned dirt Sprint Car for his second career Civil War start at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. Richard qualified 18th quick out of the 48 car field, and finished 3rd in his heat to make the Main event.

After making some major changes for the dry slick track, Richard charged from 16th starting to finish 8th and was the top finishing rookie.

"I was really happy with my finish against this level of competition. We had a fast car especially in one and two I could get in really good, but the cars in front of me kept parking it, which really slowed me down. I think we had a good enough car to run in the top five. I really want to thank Pete Bellotti for the ride in the dirt car as well as Bailey Brothers Racing Engines, Johnny Franklin Mufflers, all my crew Dad, Brian, Doug, Kenny, Bob, Kirt and Dana."
